New Digs

So, my buddy Davs finally had to head home, which blows. Looks like this next month and a half or so will be a lot more tame, as the only thing my new housemate and I have in common is names that rhyme...Pete and Ahmeet. He's a very laid back guy though, and his indifference to my "suns out, guns out" diplomacy has been a vital aspect of this new situation, as the AC doesn't work and it's been like 95 degrees work a few days in a row, with no end in sight.

My new home is no Trump towers, or Holiday Inn, but with some luck, I was able to add to my experience. On a walk to go buy some sheets for my bed, I saw a pretty large TV about a dozen houses away from mine. At the moment, do to the oncoming summer here, my new neighborhood is a cemetery full of late 80's and early 90's couches, chairs, desks, and to my luck, a TV. It's a beast of a TV, about 32 inches, but I was able to lug the thing about two football fields and 2 flights of stairs. Now? I have a whopping six channels to watch, but it was a monumental moral victory. Now, I can watch the occasional NFL or NBA game, a random US movie, and some solid HBO and Showtime shows after 10 PM. Huge.

My plans out here have also taken a somewhat dramatic turn, as one of my buddies, Johnny, has bought a ticket to Sydney from Dec. 28th to January 8th. Couldn't be more pumped to be able to travel with someone else instead of by myself. I'm most likely going to shelve the Southeast Asia trip by myself and have a blast with my buddy in Sydney for 10 days. Apparently Sydney is supposed to be one of the best places to spend New Years in the world and I will have drank more beers in 2010 than anyone I know, which is exciting. Time to go buy a better fan for my room, as it's not fun to be sweating while you're drying off from a shower.
